PRIMARY HEALTH CARE

Primary Health Care
CKAHSAC provides a quality service to the Aboriginal communities of the Ceduna Region. We have been providing health care for almost two decades and employ about 70 people.

The Clinic
CKAHSAC Clinic is open between 9am and 5pm each week day.
Clients requiring care outside these hours should call 000 or go straight to the local hospital.
The team consists of Aboriginal Health Workers, doctor, nurses, administration staff and transportation officer.

Telephone Calls
All the staff can be contacted by phone.
If the person you want is not available please leave a message and they will call you back as soon as they can.

Come and see us - it's FREE!
When you see someone at CKAHSAC it is FREE - it won't cost you anything.
If you have had blood or urine taken make sure you sign the Medicare form.

Appointment Booking
CKAHSAC Clinic runs a booked appointment system. Most appointments are for 15 minutes, but you can ask for a longer time (30 minutes) or the doctor might ask you to book a 'long appointment' next time.
Call us on 08 8626 2500 to make an appointment.
Transport is available to and from the clinic - just ask when you make your appointment.
If you are coming to the clinic for something the doctor has to fill out a form for (like Workcover or Centrelink), make sure you tell the Medical Reception staff so you have enough time booked.

Every second Saturday there is a clinic where you don't have to make an appointment, although you will have to wait your turn - and this might be a long time.
Urgent cases will be seen as a priority.

Test results
We encourage you to return to the clinic to get your test results.
If you cannot come back, please call the clinic and speak with a health worker. They will tell you what to do.

If the Doctor thinks your results are urgent we will contact you either by phone or in person.

Visiting services
The health team might suggest you see other health professionals who come to the clinic, for example the early childhood nurse, podiatrist, women's health nurse or one of the specialist doctors.
Speak with the medical reception staff if you need an appointment.

There are some services we don't provide, however, we can put you in touch with people who do provide this service.

If you or someone you know needs this then ask the medical reception staff for assistance.

Your health information
Your medical record is a confidential document. We have electronic medical records. We keep your information secure and ensure that it is only available to authorised staff.

Any Problems?
If you would like to give us feedback, suggestions or have a problem with our service we would like to know. Ask the Practice Administration staff for a feedback form or make an appointment to see the Wellness and Health Resources Coordinator.
